Boiler and hot water

A traditional electric boiler with a heating element is cheap to install, but expensive to run. A heat pump water heater extracts heat from the air and is up to three times more energy-efficient. Since 1 January 2026, heat pumps have once again been subject to 6 per cent VAT, and there is a fixed grant from Mijn VerbouwPremie if the appliance has an A+ energy rating or higher. However, this grant requires the appliance to be installed by a RESCert-certified installer. We'll work with you to determine what's best for your situation and connect the unit to both the water supply and the electricity supply.

Electrical installations and the inspection of your bathroom

A bathroom is a wet room subject to strict AREI regulations. No sockets are permitted near the bath or shower, and all circuits in the bathroom must be protected by a 30-milliampere residual current device (RCD) located outside the bathroom in the consumer unit. Lighting above the shower must be splash-proof. As soon as the electrical installation in your bathroom is altered, an inspection by an accredited inspection body is mandatory. Because Ahmed is handling both the plumbing and the electrical work, everything is in the right place before the tiles are laid, ensuring your bathroom passes the inspection with ease.

Honest about the costs from the outset

When it comes to plumbing, the surprises usually lie in what you can't see. If you live on a floor without a service shaft, the pipework will cost more than you might think at first glance. Ahmed will assess the situation on site and let you know in advance what's required and how much it will cost. If you're working on a property that's more than ten years old, the work is generally subject to 6 per cent VAT instead of 21 per cent, provided the property is mainly used for private residential purposes.
