Troubleshooting and repairing faults and breakdowns in Aalst.

What we do

Our repairs & breakdown assistance services

Main service

First the cause, then the repair

A circuit that keeps tripping or an RCD that trips again straight away: these are signs that there is an active fault somewhere. Ahmed will thoroughly test your electrical system to find the source of the problem, rather than simply replacing a component and hoping the issue is resolved. He works carefully and keeps damage to walls and finishes to a minimum. After the repair, he'll test everything to ensure the problem has been fixed.

  • Circuits and RCDs that keep tripping
  • Tracing short circuits and power interruptions
  • Sockets and switches that do not work
  • Repairs to the consumer unit and wiring

When you don't have to wait

There are some things you're better off not ignoring. The smell of burning or a scorch mark on a socket or the consumer unit, a switch that feels warm to the touch, a tingling sensation when you touch an appliance, or a residual current device (RCD) that keeps tripping: these are signs of an underlying problem that could pose a fire hazard. Feel free to reset a tripped circuit breaker once, but if it trips again straight away, have it checked. Ahmed not only looks at the fault itself, but also checks whether the surrounding installation is safe.

  • A burning smell or scorch marks on a socket or consumer unit
  • A hot switch or socket – that's never right
  • A shock when you touch an appliance
  • Circuit breaker that trips again immediately after being reset

Fault in the home or on the mains supply

If you've lost power, the first thing to do is work out where the problem lies. If your neighbours or the whole street are also without power, the issue lies with the distribution network and you should call Fluvius on 078 35 35 00. If the power cut is only affecting you, the fault is in your own electrical installation and I'll come round. If you're not sure, feel free to give me a call – we'll sort it out together before I send someone round.

  • Entire street without power: Fluvius 078 35 35 00
  • Your home only: a fault in your own system
  • Not sure? Give us a call and we'll sort it out together

Price quoted in advance and neatly finished

Before any work begins, you'll be told how much the repair will cost. That's your right as a customer, and it means you'll never be faced with any surprises on the invoice. For homes over ten years old, the reduced VAT rate of 6 per cent often applies to renovation work, provided that I invoice the materials together with the labour. The wiring is tidied away neatly and the consumer unit is given clearly labelled circuits, so you can see for yourself afterwards which circuit belongs to which room.
